Welcome to the Post-Jam Update patch notes!
During the GMTK Game Jam, we had the wonderful experience of crafting this game together and we were proud with what we managed to achieve within 48 hours! However, through further playtesting/feedback, it was clear our final product needed some polishing up and there were some features left to add to make the game much better!
This post-jam patch provides a better gameplay experience for the player, and is the definitive version of our game-jam submission!
Major Changes/Fixes
- The game application no longer quits after the player dies. A Death Screen has been added which will allow players to restart from Floor 1 or return to the Main Menu
- The final exit now leads back to the main menu without music overlap
- Players with extra energy will no longer be able to roll die AFTER they roll an extra turn AND during the enemy turn
- This means if players still have energy (2/3, 1/3) after rolling the extra turn die, they will lose out on that extra energy and automatically skip to their next turn with 3/3
- Ultimately, this makes the combat system to be much more consistent, reducing player confusion and error
Combat
- Deholder the Dice God
- Boss Theme added
- New Dice God attack added
- Increased/Added damage to Dice God attacks
- No longer one-shots the player randomly (unrelated to the triple damage attack)
- Damage returned to player is now halved
- Damage taken by player now resets with every turn
- Super Attack (previously known as "Triple Damage") no longer happens without warning
- Numerous dialogue changes for clearer messages to player
- Dicey the Dice Knight
- Piercing damage range values reduced from 40-59 to 30-50
- Dialogue changes to Dice Knight states/attacks for clearer information presentation to player
- Defense buff no longer stacks after battle if the player chooses it on their last turn
UI
- The yellow fill of the green health bar that follows it after the player gets damaged now updates properly after the player is healed
- Yellow Background HP for the health bar now resets along with the main HP image when the level changes
- Death Screen wait time set from 2 seconds to 1.25 seconds
- Dice + End buttons become interactable and un-interactable depending on certain states of battle
Main Menu
- Main Menu Buttons and Text Adjusted
- Dice Images added to Title Screen
